October 10th-13th

October 10th-13th

Projects: Students continue to work on researching an endangered species and creating a recovery plan for that species. Students will be creating an infographic, this is basically a multimedia presentation, which will be used to present students' findings about their chosen animal. I am meeting weekly with groups to make sure everyone is making adequate progress and that each student is contributing to the overall effort of their group infographic and species recovery plan. We hope to start putting presentations together this week so that students are ready to present upon our return from fall break the week of Oct. 24th.

8th Writing: Students continue to work on compare and contrast animal essays.

6th Writing: Students continue to work on their cause and effect essays about events that led to the Civil War.

6th Reading: We continue to read Two Miserable Presidents. This week, we will begin reading reading the chapter "Abe Lincoln's Troublesome Victory". Students will read about key people and major battles during this time. Students continue to write in their journals to help them with comprehension of this informational text. Students will also be completing a project of their choice that ties in to our text, I hope to be able to post some pictures of those projects in Class Dojo!

HOMEWORK: Please check that your child is completing their reading homework each night and initial each night. Students are to read nightly and summarize what they read, this will help build their reading fluency and comprehension.

REMINDER: This is our last week before fall break which is the week of Oct. 17th-21st.
