6th Writing: Students will continue to work on the folktale narrative task that focuses on theme and narrative techniques. This week we will read the accompanying mentor text and identify the theme and narrative techniques used in the mentor text. In addition, students will be brainstorming collaboratively to plan the characters, setting, plot/conflict, resolution, and theme and sharing our ideas together as a class.

Reading: This week we move forward with plot and study how this affects character development. Students will identify how a specific character changes throughout a text in response to the events. Students will also identify themes in a text and provide text evidence to support the themes identified.
